Starlight Stroll
"”... I had no idea fundraising could be so much fun. I've made so many friends... I can't wait for the next event..."
Starlight Stroll 2010.
Hi..... thank you for your interest in taking part in this exciting new event for Derian House
Children's Hospice. The Starlight Stroll has been carefully planned and we hope to make it a fun event for everyone taking part. The only stipulation we make, for safety reasons, is that you must be at least 12 years of age to participate in the walk, and anyone under the age of 18 must walk with someone who is older....
So come and join us...you've taken the first step on the walk by requesting this form. All you have to do now is fill in the details on the form opposite and write your cheque or complete the credit/debit card form on the reverse and send it back to us.....we'll do the rest!!
Conditions of entry
If you wish to walk with friends please guarantee your places by sending in your entries together if possible. Alternatively, please specify who you wish to walk with, giving their name and address so we can make sure that we link you with the right person.
If you wish to register a whole group of people together, you may do so as long as you complete an individual registration form for each person. If you wish to cover all the registration fees with one cheque or card, again you may do so, but you must ensure that payment is made for the correct number of people and amount. If we have to contact you because there is a deficit in the amount you have sent, it will result in a delay in registering all the people in your group. If you're paying by cheque, please put your name and address on the reverse side.
Your registration fee of £15 covers all expenses, provides you with a T-shirt and backpack, and secures your place on the walk. Please note that this fee is not refundable, even if, at a later date, you decide not to walk.
If you are unable to walk for any reason, please let us know as soon as possible. Please note you cannot simply re-allocate your place to someone else. For insurance purposes we need to know exactly who is walking on the night, and if someone has simply taken your place, when they arrive to check in on the night, their name will not appear on any of our registration lists. However, if you do know someone who would like to take your place, please let us know in advance, as they will still need to register and pay their own individual registration fee. You will also need to return your sponsorship form to us even if it contains no entries whatever.
There is no minimum sponsorship amount specified as a condition of entry to the Starlight Stroll, However, this is a fundraising event and we would ask that you endeavour to raise as much money as possible for Derian House from your participation in the walk. As a charity which receives minimal funding from central government, we rely almost exclusively on our own efforts and the generosity of people in the wider community to help us raise the £2 million we will need this year. Therefore we are hopeful that the money you pledge on the night will make a vital contribution to helping us to continue to provide the specialised care our children so desperately need. Please endeavour to collect your sponsorship money and send or deliver it to the hospice within 12 weeks from the date of the event. All the sponsorship money you collect must be passed to Derian House and may not be used for expenses of any description.
It is part of the conditions of entry that the T-shirt you have ordered is worn on the Starlight Stroll, so please ensure you order a size that is comfortable and non-restrictive. You must also bring your sponsorship form along with you on the night and hand it to the person who checks you in. It will be returned to you at the end of the walk.
Please be aware that the Starlight Stroll is not a race, and therefore you will not be allowed to run or jog. However, power walking is allowed as long as you don't attempt to pass the marshals at the head of the walk.
The Starlight Stroll in Lancashire is organised for the benefit of Derian House Children's Hospice, and is not connected with any other walk of the same name in any other part of the UK, or with any other midnight walk in the area.
