At Derian House we feel privileged to be counted as the friends of the many families we have cared for and supported since the hospice opened, as well as those to whom we continue to offer ongoing support. We know there will be countless others in the future who will need us to be there for them, to provide not only a high standard of specialist care for their child, but a reassuring framework of emotional support for them as a family.

Clinical Support Worker

We are seeking to recruit Clinical Support Workers with previous experience of caring for children and young people with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions. This unique vacancy provides an exciting opportunity to join our friendly care team, working in a professionally rewarding role in our fully equipped yet homely hospice providing respite, palliative and bereavement care to children and young people.

You will be working on rotating shifts including nights, weekends and bank holidays.

Physiotherapist

As we plan for the future developing and growing our services; we are looking for an experienced physiotherapist who is passionate about delivering outstanding care to children and young people with highly complex needs. This role will involve developing and managing a small physiotherapy team, and will involve further developing the current service both in-house and within a community setting.

The Derian care team provides symptom management, palliative and end-of-life care, as well as short break respite care to children, young people and their families across Lancashire, South Cumbria and Greater Manchester. Supported by our dedicated community team, family support team, neonatal services and young people’s services we are able to provide a wide range of support and care in a variety of settings.

The successful candidate will have a physiotherapy degree and have a hydrotherapy qualification or be willing to obtain one. Training in respiratory management including invasive, non-invasive ventilation and cough assist is also essential. Evidence of a proven ability with service development and implementation, working within a multi-disciplinary team, and understanding the specific needs of children/young people with life limiting & life threatening conditions is also essential.
