At Derian House we feel privileged to be counted as the friends of the many families we have cared for and supported since the hospice opened, as well as those to whom we continue to offer ongoing support. We know there will be countless others in the future who will need us to be there for them, to provide not only a high standard of specialist care for their child, but a reassuring framework of emotional support for them as a family.

Estates Gardening Support

We are currently recruiting for Estates Gardening Support, to join our friendly support services team at Derian House and assist the Facilities Manager in ensuring that the buildings and gardens are maintained to a set of specified standards.

This full time position is based at our fully equipped yet homely hospice providing respite, palliative and bereavement care for life-limited children and their families on a one-to-one basis.

Previous experience of gardening and general maintenance work is essential.

Volunteer IT Support

Based at the hospice in Astley Village

No minimum hours required, flexible days (Mon – Fri)

  • Assisting in implementing new systems
  • Responding to ICT incidents reported to the help desk system
  • Maintaining the asset database
  • Carrying our preventative maintenance on systems
  • Creation of new users on the system
  • Provide support to maintain the hospice website and Intranet

Volunteer Reception Assistant

Based at the hospice in Astley Village

Flexible hours & days available (Monday to Saturday)

  • Provide front of house services for the hospice
  • Answering telephone calls and queries
  • Greet families, staff and visitors to Derian House
  • Accept donations in accordance with policy
  • Process cash or card payments for sales of merchandise
  • Distribute incoming and arrange outgoing mail
  • Ensure displays are stocked and always presentable

Volunteer Chorley Shop Assistant

Based at our Chorley Town Centre shop

Flexible hours/days, opening days Monday—Saturday

Closed Bank Holidays

  • Assist with accepting donations and preparing items for sale
  • Greeting customers to the shop
  • Processing cash and card payments
  • Receiving telephone enquires
  • Assisting with window displays
  • Ensuring the shop looks inviting and presentable at all times

 

Volunteer Leyland Shop Assistant

Based at our Leyland Town Centre shop
