Food hygiene inspectors have awarded the kitchen at Derian House Children’s Hospice five stars – the highest rating possible!
Inspectors acting on behalf of the Food Standards Agency make regular checks on establishments serving food to the public to check on the suitability and cleanliness of premises; the kinds of food being prepared; how the kitchen staff operate and what food safety management systems are in place.
This is Derian’s second inspection and second five-star rating.
Catering manager Jeff Melling said he was delighted with the award which recognised the hard work put in by his colleague Kath Lane and the dedicated team of volunteers who help in the kitchen on a regular basis.
“Hygiene and safety is of paramount importance to all of us who man the kitchen at Derian House,” said Jeff. “It is great that our hard work in maintaining the highest possible standards has been recognised once again.
“A huge thank you must go to the volunteers who support our work in the kitchen and have helped us to achieve this rating.”
