An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Shop Manager to join our Derian House charity retail store network. We currently have store in 4 locations: Horwich, Chorley, Leyland & our new store on Fishergate in Preston. We have plans to open further stores during 2021.

The roles involve managing and co-ordinating the daily retail activities for the shop, managing all aspects of the operation, including the management of staff, volunteers and vulnerable people, whilst also developing and delivering a high standard of customer service maximising sales and profitability.

The successful candidate will have proven ability to lead & supervise, with the ability to motivate others, proven ability of operating within a managerial role, and well-developed team building skills.

This role would require working some weekends and evenings as required.

In addition to the support we give the children we care for here at Derian House; we also offer wrap around support for the wider family; including parents, siblings and grandparents. As we plan for the future developing and growing our services we are looking for a family support worker to work primarily with our siblings.

This individual will work as part of the Family Support Team to provide and coordinate sibling support services for the siblings of the children under the care of Derian House. The role involves monitoring and documenting the provision of the sibling support service and ensuring that the sibling’s health, emotional and social care needs are considered at all times; either individually or in small groups. (post covid) There will also be the expectation to support families both in the community and within the Hospice setting.

The successful candidate will ideally have an NVQ 3 in childcare, youth work, health and social care or relevant advanced qualification; and a proven ability of working with children and young people and their families to provide holistic support. There may be a requirement to complete further training as part of this role, and Derian staff are actively encouraged to further develop their skills and knowledge in accordance with their career aspirations. Derian House Children’s Hospice is proud to have been providing high quality care to children and young people with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions for the last 25 years. As we plan for the future developing and growing our services; we are looking for an experienced physiotherapist who is passionate about delivering outstanding care to children and young people with highly complex needs. This role will involve developing and managing a small physiotherapy team, and will involve further developing the current service both in-house and within a community setting.

The successful candidate will have a physiotherapy degree and have a hydrotherapy qualification or be willing to obtain one. Training in respiratory management including invasive, non-invasive ventilation and cough assist is essential. Evidence of a proven ability with service development and implementation, working within a multi-disciplinary team, and understanding the specific needs of children/young people with life limiting & life threatening conditions is also essential.

This individual will work as part of the Wellbeing Team to assist with the smooth day to day running of the play and wellbeing department as an assistance and complementary therapy to the management of care for the children and young people under the care of Derian House. The role involves monitoring and documenting the provision of the play and wellbeing service, and ensuring that the children and young people’s health, emotional and social care needs are considered at all times; either individually or in small groups. (post covid) There will also be the expectation to support families both in the community and within the Hospice setting with respite care, and pre and post bereavement support.

The successful candidate will ideally have a degree or accredited professional qualification in play or wellbeing or equivalent, and a proven ability of working with children and young people with complex care needs in an educational and play environment. There may be a requirement to complete further training as part of this role, and Derian staff are actively encouraged to further develop their skills and knowledge in accordance with their career aspirations.
