Wayne has spent 16 years putting students through their paces in his all-day circuit training fundraiser... today, we returned the favour 💚![]()

After helping to raise an incredible £107,000 for Derian House Children's Hospice, our Community Ambassador Wayne Hartley deserved a celebration of his own 🥳![]()

So, when our Deputy CEO invited him in for a "cuppa and a chat", Wayne thought it was business as usual...![]()

Instead, he was presented with a beautiful framed piece of artwork, created by the children and young people we care for, and handed to him by one of our amazing children 💕![]()

Then came the biggest surprise of all...![]()

As Wayne admired his gift, he entered a room full of staff who burst into applause 👏![]()
![]()
We paid tribute to Wayne's remarkable legacy - not only the phenomenal £107,000 he's helped raise over the past 16 years, but the hundreds of young people he's inspired to support their local children's hospice ✨![]()

From six pupils raising just £100 back in 2010, Wayne's annual circuit training challenge at has become a much-loved tradition at Darwen Vale High School that's changed countless lives 🫶![]()

Wayne, as humble as ever, thanked everyone who has been part of the journey, saying the fundraising has always been about "kids doing something for kids" 😊![]()

Of course, no celebration would be complete without cake... 🎂![]()

And yes... after all the surprises, Wayne finally got to enjoy that well-earned brew ☕![]()

💚 Graham from Roughlee Village Centre dropped by with a cheque for a brilliant £2,000 that was raised at their Beer & Gin Festival. ![]()

💚 Applethwaite Ltd. sold their ex show home furniture to staff, raising £355 for us in the process. They also gifted four art sets to the children here at Derian House.![]()

💚 We were invited along to Ellesmere Port Golf Club to accept a cheque for an extremely generous £6,000 that was raised last year by previous captain, Andy.![]()

💚 Retiring Rose Queen for Elswick, Ella, donated £180 - alongside a cool summer hamper filled with bubbles and water pistols - after picking Derian House to donate to due to her cousin being cared for here.![]()

💚 Avess from AMT Lawyers visited the brand new hoists that the company funded and installed last month in our hydrotherapy pool, sensory room, and bedrooms.![]()
