Welcome to Derian House

We care for more than 400 seriously ill babies, children and young people across the North West helping them make the most of every moment.

Support us

Care is free for families, but it will cost £6 million to run services at Derian House this year, and we rely on the generosity of our kind supporters to keep doing what we do.

Are you a Derian family?

Family Stories

Kacey's story

Our son Kacey is pure joy – always smiling and dancing, with a cheeky charm that melts hearts.
But Kacey has been very poorly throughout his short life, and we have been told to say goodbye to him a heart-breaking nine times.
Kacey is now five, and thanks to a rare multi-organ transplant we never thought possible, we’ve been given the most precious Christmas gift: the freedom of time with our little boy.

"As I ran past Manchester Royal, which is where Joel had his treatment, I was in tears. I reached the finish line and my family were all there waiting for me - screaming my name and holding up a big sign." ✨Student Jasmine Shaw raced through the Manchester Marathon on Sunday 19th April, and has raised £4,500 for Derian House, the children’s hospice that cared for her brother at the end of his life 🫶Jasmine’s brother Joel was diagnosed with Ewings Sarcoma, an extremely rare and aggressive type of cancer, when he was just 10 years old. He spent his last days at Derian House, based in Chorley, surrounded by his family, and passed away aged 11 in 2020 💫The 19-year-old - who claims she’s “not really a runner” - joined over 40,000 people to tackle 26.2 miles in the fourth most popular marathon in Europe – to say thank you to Derian House... 🥹...therefore it's only fitting - on a sunny #ThankYouThursday - that we thank Jasmine for her incredible fundraising efforts!
