Welcome to Derian House

We care for more than 400 seriously ill babies, children and young people across the North West helping them make the most of every moment.

Support us

Care is free for families, but it will cost £6 million to run services at Derian House this year, and we rely on the generosity of our kind supporters to keep doing what we do.

Family Stories

Kacey's story

Our son Kacey is pure joy – always smiling and dancing, with a cheeky charm that melts hearts.
But Kacey has been very poorly throughout his short life, and we have been told to say goodbye to him a heart-breaking nine times.
Kacey is now five, and thanks to a rare multi-organ transplant we never thought possible, we’ve been given the most precious Christmas gift: the freedom of time with our little boy.

“There have been aches, pains, goosebumps and tears; especially when meeting the mayor of Annecy. I’m feeling quite tired now but also very proud to have supported Derian House.” ✨A Wigan dad has completed an extraordinary 284km journey across the French, Swiss and Italian Alps before returning to the playground in Annecy, France, where his daughter survived a knife attack when she was just three years old 🚶49-year-old Dale Turner undertook the challenge to mark three years since his family’s ordeal while raising £5,990 for his local children’s hospice, Derian House 🙌Over the course of more than two weeks, Dale climbed a staggering 14,354 metres through some of Europe’s toughest mountain terrain, carrying only a backpack and spending nights in basic mountain refuges as he followed much of the world-famous Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc (UTMB) route through France, Italy and Switzerland before continuing alone to Annecy ⛰Throughout the journey, Dale battled soaring Alpine temperatures, thunderstorms and punishing climbs, before the challenge eventually led Dale back to Annecy, where his daughter Ettie was one of four children injured in the 2023 attack. All four children survived 💫We're so grateful to Dale for having the strength and determination to complete such an incredible challenge like this, and for supporting Derian House in the process. Thank you so much! #ThankYouThursday 💚 ... See MoreSee Less
