Our friendly family support team provides practical and emotional support and advice that best suits our families through their journey. At Derian, we support the whole family – with help available for parents and carers, siblings and grandparents.
This could typically be through a combination of phone calls, home visits, advocacy support, charity applications, and anything else you can think of.
We provide activities and for all the family with regular fun days to help you make friendships with other families undergoing a similar journey.
Our wellbeing service aims to help families relax, de-stress and have fun through:
We offer free appointments for massage, Reiki, acupressure and Indian head massage every Tuesday and Thursday from 10am until 3.30pm.
To book, ring Katie McNally on 01257 233300 or email email@example.com
Running every Tuesday from 10am to 11.45am (term-time) in the Seaside Room at Derian House, playgroup is a chance for our youngest children (under fives) and their siblings to enjoy arts & crafts, singing, story time and sensory play.
Our music therapist uses music improvised uniquely for each child to reach out to them no matter what their diagnosis or their difficulties. The children can interact in any way they can, using instruments, their voice or even by just moving their eyes.
Monthly family coffee mornings give families a chance to chat, make friends and find out information.
School holiday sessions in which parents, carers, children and siblings can enjoy fun days together with arts & crafts, splash sessions in our hydrotherapy pool, music and a picnic lunch.
A session specially designed for our group of teenage boys with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD), who meet up for fun, friendship and activities.
