Kiki DeVille

Australian-born singer Kiki DeVille has been on the stage her whole life but shot to stardom on The Voice UK in 2014 as part of Team Will.i.am. Since then she has performed around the world and currently stars as a judge on BBC1’s All Together Now, alongside Geri Horner and Rob Beckett.

Kiki says: “When my husband and I made our way through the doors of Derian House 11 years ago we knew our lives had changed forever, but we had no idea that this inspiring place would end up being a part of us forever. On that first visit when we had to confront our son Dexter’s condition head on, we literally had no idea what to expect from this place. We found out that it was far from the terrifying place we imagined but, rather, a place that is positively life-affirming.

“Our son Dexter William Robinson was born with Zellweger Syndrome, a metabolic condition, on September 12, 2007. He died in our arms at Derian House on October 15, just 4 weeks and 3 days after he was born. After that from visits to our invitation to the Stepping Stones bereavement group, Derian House has held a very special place in my heart, and I’ve always had a deep desire to not just find a way to thank them for all they did for me and my family, but also help them to help families like mine never be alone in the unique and individual challenges that parents of children with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions face every day.

“Being asked to be a Patron is by far one of the most overwhelming and humbling experiences of my life. It’s been my dream since Dexter died, and is an honour and responsibility that I take very seriously. Raising awareness of Derian House and breaking down the stereotypes of what hospices actually are, is long overdue and I am excited to meet this challenge head on.

“The newly launched Neo-Natal service is a wonderful step forward for Derian House and, obviously, very close to my heart. I am looking forward to working with the team to make sure that both families and service providers are aware that this incredible service is available. In its 25th year, the challenges and opportunities for Derian House are many and varied and I am so happy to be a part of that.

“In my time on The Voice UK and All Together Now, I’ve been fortunate enough to find myself in the most incredible positions with international stars like Will.i.am and Ginger Spice (Geri Horner), and some of the best performers in the country. As an international entertainer I have such a privileged place in the industry, and I want to use that platform to make sure that as many people as possible know about Derian House.

“Derian House is the only place where I have always been just Dexter’s Mummy. Its place in my heart is forever and always. I look forward to working to help raise money and the profile of one of my most favourite places in the world.”
