Dr Siobhán McCoy

Clinical Educator

I have been a nurse for 16yrs and during this time I have worked in a number of specialities on a number of continents. I originally qualified as an adult nurse and spent a number working in Oncology. After a couple of years I went back to University and completed my post-graduate studies in Paediatric nursing and I haven’t looked back since. I have worked as a paediatric nurse in Australia, Ireland and the U.K. in a number of different specialities including oncology and Emergency Medicine. Emergency Medicine was the mainstay for 8yrs and during this time I was the Ireland’s first Emergency Department Research Nurse and one of the first nurses to undertake an entirely clinical PhD in the emergency setting. I moved to the U.K. in 2018 and I joined the team in Derian House in 2019.

I am passionate about enabling people to reach their full potential.  I am dedicated in empowering healthcare professionals to grow and develop in a supportive and nurturing environment whilst delivering outstanding clinical care to all our service users. It is my goal to facilitate the clinical team at Derian to drive forward into the future and continue to provide robust, outstanding, evidence-based clinical care that adapts with the changing times and the needs of our service users.

I balance the demands of the job with the demands of family life with my partner Stephen and our two growing boys.
